(AGI) Algiers, Feb 25 - Italian pianist Christian Leottabrought Ludwig Van Beethoven's piano sonatas to Algiers. Theartist performed two recitals at the Radio Algeria auditorium,in which he played the first eight sonatas out of the completecycle of 32. The concerts were a premiere for Africa andrepresent the first phase of the initiative to presentBeethoven's entire series of 32 sonatas, promoted by theItalian Culture Institute in Algiers in partnership with theCultural Centre of Algeria's Aissa Messaoudi radio broadcastingnetwork. The Auditorium was sold out, showing the public'sgreat appreciation for Leotta, whom music critics consider thebest performer of Beethoven's music of his generation. Born inCatania in 1980, Leotta first played the 32 sonatas in Montrealwhen he was only 22 years old, becoming the second youngestpianist in the world to perform the whole series of sonatasafter Daniel Barenboim.
