The initiative is a follow-up to theagenda agreed between Rome and Beijing at the Joint Commissionin March, attended by Deputy Minister of Economic Development,Carlo Calenda, and to the government committee in April,co-chaired by Foreign Minister Paolo Gentiloni. It also fits inthe broader context of cooperation between the authorities ofthe two countries, to continue with an inspection by theChinese import quality control authority (AQSIQ) of pigfactories in Northern Italy. The aim is to open further therespective domestic markets by overcoming existing barriers totrade; the hopeful scenario includes authorisation of Italianpigmeat for export to China. (AGI) . .
