(AGI) Milan, Sept 29 - Chile celebrated its National Day at theMilano Expo 2015 to the sound of the band of the Carabineros."Chile's space at the Expo 2015 shows the love for our country,our people and our marvellous landscapes. It is acountry-project that turned our pavilion into one of the mostvisited of all the Exposition," said Chilean president,Michelle Bachelet, in a videoconference, opening thecelebrations for Chile's National Day. The flag-raising wasmade particularly emotional as it was accompanied by thenational anthems played by the bands of the Italian Carabinieriand Chilean Carabineros. "It is wonderful that Expo 2015 givesus the opportunity of seeing together so many cadets from thetwo countries: Italy and Chile are bound by a historicfriendship, which is vouched for by the perfect integration ofthe Italian community in the Andean country," said BrunoPasquino, the General Commissioner of the Expo. He continued:"What Chile has organised for this National Day shows the greatimportance that the country attributes to the UniversalExposition and the attention for its theme." Denise PascalAllende, Vice President of the Chamber of Deputies and at thehead of the Chilean delegation at the Expo, said: "The theme ofthe Expo lends itself perfectly well to showcasing theexcellences of our country to the whole world. Chile is theworld's 16th-largest food exporter because, thanks to the greatvariety of climate due to the extension of the territory, itcan produce fruit and vegetables all year around." From theAtacama Desert to Patagonia, from its luxuriant central valleysto its eastern islands, Chile's great geographical variety wasalso the main feature highlighted in its pavilion. Thecountry's theme at the Expo is 'El amor de Chile', inspired bythe verses of the poet Raul Zurita. At the close of theofficial ceremony, the delegations paraded along the Decumanusuntil the Chilean pavilion "escorted" by the music of the bandof the Carabineros. Here the celebrations hit their climax witha concert by the Inti-Illimani Historico at the Open AirTheatre. (AGI). .
