(AGI) Bucharest, March 16 - Italy is at the forefront in theprotection of the rights of the visually-impaired. The ItalianEmbassy in Bucharest has joined a campaign launched by theRomanian consumer protection association, equipping the localconsular chancery with Braille slates carrying all the standardnotices for members of the public accessing the offices. Thematerial was offered free of charge by the association, whichis working on a project to raise the awareness of theauthorities and the general public about the issue ofaccessibility of public offices to visually-impaired persons.The policy is in line with a standard that has not yet foundfull application in Romania, although mandatory. The Italianembassy, led by Ambassador Diego Brasioli, is one of the firstdiplomatic offices to join the campaign.. .
