(AGI) Maiduguri (Nigeria), March 7 - The casualty toll of threeconsecutive explosions in only 30 minutes in Maiduguri was atleast 50 dead and 36 wounded, reported hospital sources onSaturday, who also said that they were instructed by localauthorities to provide the victims with medical treatment freeof charge. Eye-witnesses reported seeing dismembered bodiescarried away or loaded on numerous ambulances. The explosionstook place in a market and in a bus station, situated near thelocal police headquarters. At least one of the explosions wascaused by a suicide bomber riding a tricycle. Maiduguri, thecapital of the Borno State in north-eastern Nigeria, isconsidered to be the original stronghold of the Boko Haramextremist group and has often been targeted by the terroristacts of the jihadists. A little over a month ago, the grouptried to take over the city but they were pushed back by theNigerian army. (AGI). .
