(VELINO) Roma, 26 Nov - Plans to build a 'bridge' between Expo2015 and Matera 2019 in an attempt to leverage Italiangovernment initiatives via their embassies in South America, were discussed at a meeting between the President andVice-President of the Basilicata regional government, PieroLacorazza and Francesco Mollica, and the Italian Ambassador inBuenos Aires, Teresa Castaldo. The idea is to promote nextyear's universal exposition in Milan, and to attract touriststo events being organised in Matera, designated EuropeanCapital of Culture 2019. The Basilicata region is committed tofunding tourism for people originally from that region, nowliving in South America, and attracting them back. The meetingalso discussed cultural events that the embassy hopes topromote, to involve third-generation Italians living inArgentina and valorize their skills, with a view tointerpreting today's migratory phenomena in a more modern key. vel.
