AGI and Andes press agencies sign collaboration deal

(AGI) Quito, Dec 3 - Press agencies AGI and Andes have agreedto collaborate in several fields. The general director ofAndes, Marcelo Del Pozo, and the managing director of AGI,Gianni Di Giovanni, on Wednesday signed a memorandum ofunderstanding in Quito, agreeing to work together in editorialproduction regarding both primary information andcommunication, multimedia, vocational training and theorganisation of local events. The agreement was signed at theheadquarters of Andes in the presence of the Secretary forCommunication of the Government of Ecuador, Fernando Alvarado,the Chairman of the Regulatory Council of Information andCommunication, Patricio Barriga, and the Ambassador of Italy inQuito, Gianni Piccato. It also commits both agencies tolaunching joint projects that promote commercial and culturalrelations between Italy and Ecuador, increasing the value ofboth agencies, key players in the international news industry.The general manager of Andes commented: "Italy and Ecuador haveimportant economic relations, ranging from energy to food,infrastructure and numerous other areas in which we cooperatepositively. We are proud to team up with AGI and to open adirect channel in the field of information and communication."The managing director of AGI also welcomed the deal. "We arevery happy to sign this agreement, our first in South America,"said Di Giovanni from Quito, adding: "It is completely in linewith the existing, strong ties between Italy and Ecuador. Withits strategic location, growing economy and dynamicinstitutions, Ecuador is for us the ideal partner to furtherstrengthen AGI's position as the leading Italian company on theinternational information market".
