The Taj Mahal was built by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in17th Century in memory of his wife who was buried at the site.More than 10,000 tourists visit the monument daily. Lawyers hadapproached the court to declare the monument a Hindu temple asthey felt that there was evidence to prove that the monumentwas originally a temple dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva. TheTaj Mahal is a UNESCO World Heritage site and attracts millionsof foreign and India tourists every year. (AGI).
