Google 3D viewer gives access to theatres around the world

(AGI) Rome, Dec 1 - The Google Cultural Institute for thePerforming Arts has opened a new virtual space for exhibitions,theatres, dance and musical performances. It has beenimplemented with the collaboration of over 60 culturalinstitutions across the world. Users will only need to connectto g.co/performingarts to access the most prestigious stages inthe world like Carnegie Hall, the Berlin Philarmonic and theGarnier Opera in Paris. In Italy this virtual tour starts fromRome's Opera Theatre. The 3D viewer, utilizing 360-degreetechnology and a Google Cardboard, will open a virtual realityto users, featuring stage and backstage access to performanceslike 'The Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny', a musicalcreated by playwright Bertold Brecht and composer Kurt Weill,conducted under the prestigious narration of art directorAlessio Vlad. The Google Cultural Institute section devoted tothe theatre in Rome will gather together over 100 images fromthe historical archives of the theatre, a high-resolutionGigapixel image of the theatre curtain created by Giorgio deChirico for Gioacchino Rossini's Otello. There will also be amap of Street View images which will enable a visitor todiscover the theatre premises through a 360-degree view. Anextensive digital exhibition will also show the performancesfrom the summer season at Rome's Opera Theatre on the GoogleCultural Institute platform. Since 1937, the Baths of Caracallahave been the setting for Verdi's operas like Aida and LaTraviata, but they have also been a stage where Bob Dylan,Elton John and Ludovico Einaudi performed. Caracalla has alsofeatured major classical and contemporary dancers such as CarlaFracci, Roberto Bolle and the Pink Floyd Ballet. The GoogleCultural Institute is thus pursuing its commitment of bringingthe arts online, making them accessible to all users from everycorner of the world. The new Arts section will include over 60cultural institutions from more than 20 countries, over 100interactive stories and a total of 8000 contents such asphotos, videos and other types of documents.. .
