(AGI) Cape Town, Dec 1 - The South African branch of FieraMilano, Fiera Milano Exhibitions Africa, will again beorganising the Cape Town Art Fair from Feb. 19 to 21 2016. Thisinternational event brings contemporary art from around theworld to South Africa's cultural and commercial capital. Thefourth edition will include debates on Africa's role in thecontemporary art scene as well as speeches from world expertsand professionals. A new, bigger location for the event - CapeTown International Convention Centre - will offer the sameexhibition space and high standards as other international artfairs, and will attract both local and international artists,according to Matthew Partridge, head of Fiera Milano Africa.For this reason, they expect visitors to exceed 2015's seventhousand. "Contemporary art in Africa was a hot topic ofconversation at the recent Basel Art Fair in Switzerland",explained Partridge, "making the 2016 Cape Town Art Fair theperfect platform from which to continue this dialogue".Architect Laura Vincenti, who is working as a consultant forthe event and has already collaborated on Artissima in Italy,emphasised that "the Cape Town Art Fair provides a platform toshowcase works from emerging and established artists throughoutAfrica, as well as their diaspora in the rest of the world, toa local and international public of visitors and buyers."Speakers will include Davide Quadrio, founder and director ofBiz Art in Shanghai, Kerryn Greenberg, curator forinternational art at the Tate Modern in London, Claire Lilley,director of the Yorkshire Sculpture Park and curator of theFrieze Sculpture Park, and Alia Swastika, director of the 13thBiennale Jogja Yogyakarta.
