(AGI) Rho (Milan), Sept 17 - The 2015 Universal Exposition inMilan marked the National Day of Angola on Thursday, withspecial attention for the national hero Agostinho Neto. "Thedate of Sept 17 holds great significance for Angola," saidAngolan Vice President Manuel Vicente. "It is the day wecelebrate the birth of our national hero and first president,Agostinho Neto. And celebrating this special day at Expo is ahappy coincidence." Neto was born on Sept 17, 1922. Vicente,who led the large, high-level Angolan delegation at the Expo,linked the issues his country is facing with the theme of theExpo: Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life. "The theme of theExpo is exactly in line with the commitment of our governmentto diversify our economy, with special attention toagriculture. The question of food is related to other themesand sub-themes, such as water, energy, agro-industry andsustainable development. All these issues are part of Angola'sstrategy to combat hunger and to achieve food security. Ouragricultural programmes, under the National Development Plan2013-2017, have already generated important data that we sharewith the many contacts made here in our pavilion, during the180 days of the Expo." Angola's Vice President also underlinedhis country's efforts in the health sector, in expanding thepower grid and the Angolan education system. All these themesare explained in the pavilion of Angola, one of the largest atthe Expo. The pavilion welcomed its millionth visitor on Aug25. (AGI).
