(AGI) Tehran, May 16 - Dialogue between Italy and Iran will soon come to fruition with contracts in various sectors of the economy and culture, Italy's ambassador to Tehran, Mauro Conciatori, told AGI outside the Italy-Iran Summit at The European House-Ambrosetti on Monday. "We're well past the starting point with Iran and we're progressing from Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) to road maps. In due time we'll get to contracts," he affirmed. Ambassador Conciatori then noted that "the resurgence of economic exchanges between Italy and Iran within the framework of their strategic partnership that goes through three different levels. The first one is commerce, which has always been there, but has changed since contact has resumed. Italian operators understand that there's a local production capacity and that there are also foreign competitors in the market. There, high-quality products must be sent," he stated. "The second level is that of small and medium enterprises (SMEs), which characterise the economies of our two countries. The Iranian sector has a large production capacity and simply asks for some new technology, knowledge of modern management, and sometimes a brand. The third level - the most ambitious one - is that of large projects worth 1-2 billion euros, where the intent is to bring Italian technology, complete the projects with financing, and proceed together with Iranian partners." The Italian ambassador affirmed that updated economic data in a few months will show that Italy and Iran are already well under way on the road map to bring profits to businesses in the two countries.
