(AGI) Rome, May 3 - The Italian Association of Engineering and Architecture Companies (OICE), affiliated with Confindustria, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Iranian Society of Consulting Engineers (ISCE) on April 29 during a visit by the heads of the ISCE to Italy following an OICE mission to Tehran from February 8-10. The memorandum, the associations stated, was signed by the President of the ISCE, Hormozd Ramineh, and the President of the OICE, Gabriele Scicolone, who also took part in the recent mission to Tehran led by Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi. "The Memorandum of Understanding signed with our Iranian counterpart falls within the climate of political collaboration and business development between our two countries, and aims to promote a joint venture between Italian and Iranian engineering companies to operate in Iran and third countries, towards which Iran intends to propose itself as technical partner," said Mr Scicolone. The statement notes: "[The ISCE] encompasses some 800 associates, and like the OICE it is a member of the FIDIC (International Federation of Consulting Engineers). The Memorandum joins two nations, Italy and Iran, that have two engineering cultures dating back thousands of years and an equally long history of mutual friendship and respect, for which this instrument will provide important opportunities for collaboration, in particular in the sectors of infrastructure and transportation, energy and the environment, water and sea, healthcare and hospitals, and the enhancement of cultural heritage. In this spirit," the statement concludes, "the OICE will participate with a substantial and qualified delegation to the Iranian Health Conference which will be held in Tehran on May 14 and 15, the third appointment between the two associations in this first semester of 2016."
